It's Friday night (or was, when I started this post), 6pm, rainy outside. I'm caught up on all my shows on hulu, the pizza is rising for dinner, and all the fun things on my "to-do" list are done. So, guess that means a blog post!
Dan won't be home for dinner, which is unfortunate, but not unusual. He gets home at about 10:30pm on average. Friday's are sometimes early, but no such luck tonight. I'm baking a pizza for uno.
On top of his late schedule, Dan's been studying for the third installment of his CPA test. How does he find the time to study, you ask? I'm really not sure. I can tell you this much, I won't be seeing him this weekend. Thank goodness his test is on Wednesday. We still have test 4 to go, but we're hoping that one won't be so crazy; we have a couple months, and work should calm down. (Fingers crossed, at least).
You like how I glazed over the fact that we haven't posted in forever? To be honest, I just didn't feel like it. You mix laziness, with craziness, and the feeling of having to "catch up" and well, I just couldn't find the motivation. It's hard when you've been staring at a computer all day. Actually that's a lame excuse. Because it's totally easy to catch up on hulu shows, or work on my excel docs. Things have been a bit stressful as of late, so I'll go with that one. =D
So given our posting hiatus, we're back all the way to Christmas, but luckily we shared that with the people who would be most eager to hear about it; our families. We spent Christmas with Dan's family, and it was AWESOME. Seriously, I couldn't have better in-laws. Sharing Christmas traditions, new and old, with Dan (and the fam) was so cool. I love them so much, and they are the next best thing to my own family. We spent so much time just hanging out, enjoying each others company. We went to the temple together, which was really neat. Shopping with my Silstas, watching movies, family parties, food... it was great.
It was awesome being in Utah again. Dan and I got out of the car and just breathed. It's not that NY air is terrible or disgusting or dirty (at least it doesn't seem like it...most of the time). It was just that Utah felt so clean, and open. There really was a sense of coming home. I've lived there for 5 years now, so it shouldn't surprise me. I guess I'm used to being away from California. I'm used to the "coming home" feeling there. But I wasn't expecting it going back to Utah. And it may get a bad rap from all the "too cool" mormons... but I do miss it. I spent some of the most important years of my life there. I'll say it again, by heck, I miss it! (Not to mention its a GORGEOUS place...once you're out of construction zones).
Anyway, due to some crazy travel plans (we do whatever it takes to save on tickets) we were able to see my family for New Years Eve. I was definitely spoiled, since a work assignment of Dan's ended up taking me out there for a week at the beginning of December. Granted, we didn't know we'd have that opportunity when we booked our travel.
To sum it up, vacation is great, and our families our awesome. Being away from them is the hardest part about being here. And the next post to follow will have PICTURES! For those with short attentions spans, like me (As in, it took me 2 months to finally write this... and 5 days to post it)
Love and miss you all...
